Using the BattleMarkers!

Ok so today is the first day I've had a chance to use my BattleMarkers in a Chaos (me) vs Dark Angels. And I got to say they are a time saver. Much easier to do book keeping such as Boons, Warlord Traits, who is affected by what psychic power etcetera. Made for a quicker game! Be sure to check out their eBay store!

So as a continuation of my exploring alternate 40k resources, today I'm going to post about Dragon Forge, a site that specializes in detailed resin bases, conversion bits, and even a bit of diorama and terrain pieces!   Now I have been working on a 1750 Iron Warrior army for a while now, and I just couldn't seem to get a base that I liked.  I'm pretty sure some of us have been there, where we just get tired of trying to get the base to look like that warzone we had in our head, and instead just slap some sand on it and don't look back.  I was pretty much at that point when I ran across Dragon Forge's site, and their line of resin bases.

Now needless to say, as an Iron Warrior fan I had been trying to base my marines in the act of storming and destroying some hapless city, and I was instantly taken with the Urban Wasteland set of bases.  I was happy to see that their sets were actually a bit cheaper than most competitors, and also the site seemed to have more variety, having several sets of each size (25mm, 40mm, ect...) and even had some Heroic bases too to help make your characters stand out.

I ordered 3 sets of 25mm bases (30 bases) a set of 40mm (5 bases), both heroic sets (3 bases), two 60mm, and even one of the oval 120mmx95mm bases.  Total came out to about $66.50 USD, including shipping from Canada, which I was happy with considering the looks of the bases, and the price difference to other suppliers.  Now the only downside so far is that shipping is going to likely take a while (10 business days or thereabouts), but I am expecting them tomorrow so I'll post up my reactions then.  Meanwhile let it be said that the variety of bases, the detail of the sculpts, and the lower competitive prices make me think it will be a great deal once I get my hands on them.  Also they provide square bases for all you fantasy players as well!  Until next time! May the dice Gods favor you!

Battlemarkers: Token & Markers for 40k

So I was perusing eBay (as one does) and happened across the BattleMarkers eBay store.  This store owner makes quality tokens and markers for "many popular tabletop wargames".  As far as I can see he   only makes markers for 40k.  All of the races are represented, and tokens vary from Psychic Powers and Warlord Traits, to Vehicle Damage and Special Rules.

I bought a set of the Biomancy powers pictured above, and they arrived promptly in the mail box three days later.  They are about the size of a standard infantry base in 40k, and covered in a nice varnish to keep them from getting damaged.  To be honest I was quite happy with the quality of the set, the circles to enter the different amounts for Iron Hand or Warp Speed could have been bigger, but I suppose that would have made the type a bit to small.  Overall, it's a nice little time saver for my games, making a little less book keeping necessary (no more confusing that dice as a wound marker, or warp speed marker, or just left over from the last round of shooting lol!).  Anyway, just a nice little addition I saw.  Let me/us know about your experience with this product or other timesavers!

Goodbye Blood Angels! :(

Sooooo today I finally had to say adieu to my first army my Blood Angels Space Marines! :( I have had a long career with them and many glorious victories and ignoble defeats but they were a pleasure to paint, model and game with! However, I'm going off to college and now they will serve again to provide funds for my education. Maybe one day in the future I will rebuild my Second Company :)

Armies on Parade

So with the end of the first round of Armies on Parade, I thought it would be fun to start a blog in order to share with the community of gamers, and (as I am sure I will) learn a great deal in return. I have been a dedicated hobbyist for around ten years or thereabouts. Around three years ago I finally found my feet, mostly due to the great group of gamers at my local store. I have two armies, a Vostroyan Firstborn regiment of Imperial Guard, and a Blood Angel's army that I am repainting in its entirety (be ready for more on that later). For the mean time, I'll simply say I am excited for this opportunity to share my work, and I freely invite people to share their opinions and indeed their own models, or armies as well! Happy Gaming!
